Training & Workshops

Over 50% of the UK population consider themselves religious or as having a faith. Do you feel confident incorporating someone’s faith into your therapy? Would you like to feel more confident working with those who have had difficult experiences of faith or experienced religious trauma?

I offer regular online training sessions for therapists, counsellors and psychologists on the topics of faith, religious trauma, and loss of faith (often known as deconstruction).

The next training dates are:

Wednesday 25th June 9.30am – 12pm BST
Please book at: https://www.tickettailor.com/events/connectionpsychology/1694588

Wednesday 10th September 7pm – 9.30pm BST
Please book at: https://www.tickettailor.com/events/connectionpsychology/1697022

Note that this is a single session training with multiple date options; you only need to book onto one of the sessions.

The session will cover:

  • Why faith and religion are topics we cannot ignore in therapy, even with clients who do not call themselves religious.
  • The positive and negative outcomes associated with faith and spiritual practices, as well as with leaving organised religion.
  • The added complexity of trauma that occurs in religious settings, and what to be aware of when working with religious trauma.
  • The impact leaving formal religion can have, even decades later.
  • Ways to feel more comfortable talking about topics related to faith, religion and spirituality with clients.
  • Further increasing our awareness of own own attitudes (both positive and negative) towards faith, religion and spirituality, and how these attitudes may unconsciously influence our clinical practice.

If these dates do not work for you then do email me and I will keep you updated of future training dates.

I can also put together bespoke workshops for your organisation; please get in touch if you are interested in this.
